Universities & research institutes

This is the sector we have delivered into most: muffle furnaces, box-type high-temperature furnaces, tube and atmosphere furnaces, an infrared testing furnace, a fire simulation test chamber, a high-temperature strain-gauge test platform and an ignition-point test furnace. Research buyers procure on a completely different logic from production lines, and the selection logic has to match.

Requirements

Three things this industry actually demands

Each of these changes the final configuration — this is not industry boilerplate.

01

The research topic will change — the furnace should not serve only one experiment

Research groups change direction every few years as a matter of course. Judge a furnace by whether it can span the atmospheres and temperature bands you might need later, not just today's sample. A tube furnace with interchangeable tubes, or a box furnace with atmosphere capability, usually pays off better than a single-purpose unit.

02

Procurement needs traceable specifications and quotations

University purchasing usually goes through tender or three-quote procedures and needs a formal proposal, a configuration list and a specification table. We deliver against a written proposal, with figures traceable to a specific model and to the document text — not verbal assurances.

03

Safety interlock and data logging are hard requirements

Overtemperature, thermocouple-break and overcurrent protection, plus exportable and storable temperature records, are now near-mandatory in lab tenders: without a recorded profile the result cannot be reproduced.

FAQ

Frequently asked

How is a laboratory muffle furnace different from an industrial furnace?

Laboratory furnaces optimise for control accuracy, uniformity and repeatability, and can afford slow ramps. Industrial furnaces optimise for throughput, cycle time and reliability in continuous service. Running experiments in an industrial furnace gives you data you cannot reproduce; running small-batch production in a lab furnace is uneconomic in both cost and service life.

Can you invoice for university procurement and tender procedures?

Yes. We supply against a written proposal and can provide a formal quotation, technical proposal, configuration list and invoice. Qualification documents are supplied with the enquiry.

Tell us your process conditions

Temperature, atmosphere, material and part size are enough for us to suggest a furnace type and draft a proposal.
